I love our parish family, and was so pleased with the manner in which you joined me last weekend in saying goodbye to our summer residents. I enjoyed each of the events we held after each of the Masses, and though it was sad to say goodbye, it was nice to have time to spend with them and each of you. I would venture to guess that any visitor to our parish would tell you the special part of the church is the family atmosphere they see in our interactions. We are blessed with so many kind people and I’d like to thank all those who helped me host each of the events. Just a reminder that this is the last week to put in your order for one of the tiles! We’ll send the order in on Monday and have the tiles grouted on the Grotto by this Columbus Day. We have about nine 8”x8” left for inscription and a handful of the other tiles. If we have to we will order blank tiles that will be put on the foundation to complete the project.
I want to thank everyone for the tremendous outpouring of love you have extended to the folks in Houston and Louisiana who have lost everything to Hurricane Harvey.
I have already sent in a check for $5245.00 for the victims, which will in turn be sent along to Catholic Relief Services. Your funds will be dispersed quickly and efficiently with little administrative costs. I am inspired by your generosity…you almost exceeded the offertory. Your kindness gave me an idea. We do a lot of mission work in NJ for Hurricane Sandy, and I was considering putting together a group of adults who would go down to Houston with Project Bernard (the group we work with in NJ) for five days to help repair houses. The trip would be over the winter, and we would help defray the cost to those who would participate. I’m working on the particulars and will get back to the parish. Thoughts? The Blessing of the Animals will be on Saturday, September 30th at 10:00 a.m. Please join us in the courtyard for coffee & donuts. CCD for the lower grades begins on Sunday, October 1st. After Mass we will have coffee & donuts in the courtyard with Hoodsies and slush. Also, our Fall Festival will be held on Saturday October 14th with activities and a jumpy house.
