This Sunday is a very special day for our parish since today we celebrate Priesthood Sunday, a day to reflect, celebrate, and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church. Priests give of themselves to preach and teach the joy of the Gospel and stand in as Christ: loving, just and compassionate to others. Fr. Carmichael and the many priests who serve with him, inspire us to continue the mission of Christ in spreading the Good News of the Gospel to a world so much in need of its fruit: JOY. Join us after the 10am Mass in the Parish Hall this weekend for a Donut Social to thank Fr. Carmichael for serving our parish family for 11 years, and to give all of us an opportunity to thank God for the incredible vocation of Holy Orders.
This coming Wednesday is a holy day of obligation; On November 1st, each year the Church celebrates All Saints Day, a day commemorated to all those who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven. Masses will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 31st at 4pm and Wednesday at 7:30am. We pray to the saints to intercede for us because;
“The Church is holy: … Christ, the bridegroom gives himself up to make her holy; and the Spirit of holiness gives her life.”
Since the Church welcomes sinners, her holiness shines in her saints; The intercession of the saints bring us closer to Jesus and helps us to become saints—that is someone who makes it to heaven. Whether you are married, single, a religious sister, a priest or whatever your state in life, the Catholic Church calls you to seek holiness and sainthood.
Next Sunday, we gratefully welcome the Most Reverend John Dooher, Auxiliary Bishop for the South Region, who will confer the Sacrament of Confirmation on 14 Confirmandi. Together let us pray for a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit to confirm a union with Christ to equip each of these teenagers for an active participation in the mission, worship, and apostolic life of the Church.
Please Pray for Confirmandi: Patrick Brown, Christian Cook, Hannah Dowling, Nicole Harris, Kathryn Hunter, James Kolar, Joseph Logan, Madison Maynard, Daniel Noons, Thomas Porter, Siobhan Ross, Angie Williamson, Timothy Williamson.
