Next week is Christmas! I just want to remind folks that we will have the 4:00pm Vigil Masses in the Church and Chapel. This year we will not have a 6pm Mass given the shift of folks to the earlier Mass. On Christmas Day we will have our regularly scheduled Masses of 7:30am, 10:00am and 11:30am. There will not be a 7:00pm Mass. This Wednesday night from 6:30-8:00PM we will have Adoration and Benediction during Confession. We will feature Adoration, Prayer and Christmas music.

I hope everyone had a good time at the CHRISTMAS CONCERT, it was nice to see such a strong crowd. Like yourselves I feel bad that the DAUGHTERS OF ST. PAUL chose to sing in Cleveland that night, but I hope they may return in a few years for another encore concert. In the meantime we did reasonably well for our first Pops Concert. Unfortunately we had expected the Daughters this year, but they notified us in mid summer that they had chosen to go to Cleveland rather than Marshfield. Of course this resulted in a last minute scramble to keep our holiday concert series intact, and at that point most musicians were already committed to other Christmas concert events. I am indebted to our Choir Director, Mr. Christopher Kerins, for putting together a last minute performance. I also appreciate the performances from our own professional vocalists. Next year’s concert will be on Friday, December 8th, 2017 and this week we are hiring a larger ensemble of players to include a harp, cello, oboe, violins, French horn, trumpet and percussion. We are also engaging three vocalists. Each of the members of the coming Pops Orchestra are culled from musicians who play in orchestras from the Boston Symphony, Plymouth Philharmonic and Cape Cod Coral Society. Can you imagine for us to put on this level of a quality holiday concert we have to hire a year ahead? Thanks to all those who supported this effort.

For all those who attended the concert, you got to enjoy a sneak peak at all the decorations (with the exception of the Christmas Flowers). Please remember that your Christmas Flowers donations help to defray the costs associated with adorning the altar and decorations for the exterior of our church property during the Christmas Season. If you have not remembered a loved one yet with a donation, please pick up one of the flower envelopes, fill out the envelope with the names of your deceased loved ones, and then place the envelope in the collection basket. We will remember your loved ones in a novena of Masses and their names will be listed in the bulletin on Christmas Day. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

I want to thank Mike Duane, President of the Marshfield Commercial Fisherman’s Association.

This generous soul took three days after lobstering the high seas to deliver over 120 of his traps (and buoys) to afford us the opportunity to build the unique Lobster Trap Christmas Tree and Lobster Trap Christmas Pyramid. We are blessed with the Association’s generous gift of over 100 lobsters for our summer mission fundraiser.

The Parish Office will close on Friday 12/23 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd at 9:00am. In case of pastoral emergencies call 781 500-0959. Catherine Rein will be on vacation from December 26-Janaury 6th.
