Can you believe that Lent is only a few weeks away?! To be honest with you, I can’t either. It is coming up so fast! With Lent quickly approaching, I wanted to take a different route with the column over the next few months. I want to focus on becoming the best version of yourself. Matthew Kelly often talks about this term, but in all honesty, what does that even mean?! Basically, in a nutshell, its becoming the person God is calling you to be. You could be the best version YOU want to be, which would probably include more self-centered intentions. OR you could strive for the best version of who God wants you to be, who Jesus invites you to become, right now! My hope in this Lent is to continue to become the best version of who God wants me to be. I invite you to share this goal with me!

I encourage you to sign up for the Best Lent Ever program through Dynamic Catholic. If you google, “best lent ever program”, click on one of the top links to sign up! You will receive a short email each day with a theme, and I have to tell you, they are great devotionals! The program will be based on the book, Rediscover Jesus, which we all have thanks to the Christmas book drive. This book is an incredible companion for building a personal friendship with Jesus, getting to know Him better, and in turn learning how to be the best version of yourself in God’s eyes. Each week I will focus on a few topics that influenced me to become a better version of who God is calling me to be. I hope together we can grow in our friendship with Jesus and becoming a better disciple.
To be honest, I’m not one to make New Year’s resolutions. I doubt they would make me a better version of who God wants me to be because, I probably won’t follow through with them!. However, I take Lent more seriously, so with that, I want to share a few things I will be working on this Lent. I know one thing that I will be focusing on is growing closer in my relationship with Jesus, and especially Mary. I feel like I have so much more to learn about Mary and her role in the Church. travel tool . I also hope to find some more time for silence. I’m noticing with the world’s chaotic pace, it is so hard to slow down to spend time with Jesus in silence, or even better in adoration. These are two areas that I definitely hope to grow in as this Lent quickly approaches.
I love this quote, “If your God is anything like you, I want to know him.” This brings us back to the story I’ve shared from the prologue of ‘Rediscover Jesus’ in which these two question arise, “Are you Jesus?” and “When was the last time someone confused you for Jesus?” These are great questions about how we live our faith, and I think if you are truly striving to become the best version of who God calls you to be, these questions will come up, guaranteed! As Lent quickly approaches, I hope you will join me in striving to develop a plan to become the best version of who God is calling you to be.
