All the nations that you have brought into being will come and fall down in adoration, oh Lord, they will bring glory to your name.” (Psalm 86:9)

Wow! The Christmas Season brings with it a power house of celebrations, beginning with the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus; this weekend the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph; the Solemnity of Mary on January 1st, and next week we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. This truly is a wonderful time of the year!

Can you imagine what it was like for the three wise magi (kings), each one traveling from a different region to follow a star; anticipating to find a king like themselves but instead, what they find, is an infant in a manger.  How awestruck they must have been to gaze upon a child, whom they instinctually knew was the King of Kings. Struck with wonder they look at Jesus: a child who is, Heaven on Earth, man in God, God in man.  One whom the world could never contain or comprehend in a tiny baby’s body, so small.  They never questioned his greatness as they presented their gifts; incense for God, gold for a king and myrrh for one who is to die. We may ask ourselves; how did they know?

St. Leo the Great once said: “The obedience of the star calls us to imitate its (the star’s) humble service: to be servants as best we can, of the grace that invites all men to find Christ.”

How do we do this? Bring awestruck wonder back to our faith in Jesus and shine! Start right now by looking up at the tabernacle which houses the Lamb of God who came into the world to save us.

“How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of Heaven.” Genesis 28:17
