Spring is such a great time to see the various plants, trees and shrubs come to bloom and show off such pretty colors, particularly the tree in front by the Blessed Mother Grotto.
I hope everyone had a Happy Mother’s Day and that all the mothers enjoyed their pins. We only had a dozen pins left after the 11:30 Mass and so were not able to hand out any at the7PM Mass. Next year we will increase the order. If you did not get one of the pins just call the parish office and the first 12 folks will get a pin mailed to them.
A word of apology to the Vigil Mass crowd as we forgot to switch out the Missalettes for the new quarter. Thanks to Eddie Finocchiaro for not only pointing this out, but then helping me and the other Vigil parishioners who helped me after Mass to get rid of the old ones and replace the new ones. Also, curiously since we have gone to the new missalettes we are experiencing a problem with folks taking them home with them. The last quarter we had ten+ missalettes taken home, and the very first weekend of this quarter (that is last weekend) on Sunday, we had five taken home. When someone removes the missalette it means the missing book does not get replaced. Everyone uses the books, so I would ask folks to please refrain from taking a missalette home. There is a monthly missalette entitled, “Living with Christ,” that contains the weekday and weekend daily readings. The subscription costs $24.95 and it can be ordered online at LivingwithChrist.us/TJUN or call 1 800 214 3386. Please help me keep these missalettes in the pews.
I want to thank Joe Corcoran for helping me with some of the landscape work on the property. I appreciate the many kind words you have offered with respect to our appearance. Spring is such a great time to see the various plants, trees and shrubs come to bloom and show off such pretty colors, particularly the tree in front by the Blessed Mother Grotto. We are replanting the Easter lilies (which will likely bloom once more this summer), and the tulips and daisies (which will bloom next spring). I have added two magnolia trees, one beside the chapel and the other in front of the parish hall. The blossoms fill the air with a beautiful smell, and display blue buds that will add a little more color to these areas. Next week I will be purchasing a few new hostas for the side of the church.
Inside the church we are working on venting issues in the attic and will likely have to replace the old moist insulation with new insulation. This is likely the cause of the flaking plaster which will also have to be repaired. This will be an ongoing summer/early fall project, which the Grand Annual will fund. I met with the audio folks and we are drawing up plans for the speakers upgrade and the video projection system. I hope to have this done by the 3rd week of July. Thanks for your patience with this project.
Now that the sun has arrived I hope you get time to enjoy it!
