Happy Father’s Day!
I want to wish all Dads a “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.” At each of our Masses we will be handing out pins and praying over all dads present, while remembering all the dads who have gone before us and we pray enjoy life with God.
Dads are an important part of our upbringing, as my dad has been for me. As I write this, I am imagining a picture taken of my father at Holy Cross Cathedral on the occasion of my ordination to priesthood. What is so cool about the picture of him embracing me is that the Holy Spirit is beaming with joy out of him. They say a picture says a thousand words, and in this case, each word is ‘love’.
I am blessed to have him as my model of fatherhood. I would like to share what Pope Francis has addressed to all fathers this Father’s Day: “Joseph’s mission is certainly unique and unrepeatable, because Jesus is absolutely unique. And yet, in his guardianship of Jesus, forming him to grow in age, wisdom and grace, he is a model for every educator, especially every father. St Joseph is the model of the educator and the dad, the father. I, therefore, entrust to his protection, all parents, priests – who are fathers – and those who have an educational role in the Church and in society. I ask for you the grace to be ever closer to your children, allow them to grow, but be close, close! They need you, your presence, your closeness, your love. May you be for them as St Joseph was; guardians of their growth in age, wisdom and grace. May you guard them on their journey; be educators and walk with them. And by this closeness you will be true educators. Thank you for all you do for your children; thank you. May St Joseph bless you and accompany you.”
This Monday evening, June 17th, at 7pm we are pleased to announce we will be hosting Tom Peterson, from “Catholics Come Home” and EWTN. I want to thank Steve and Mary Wessling for sponsoring this inspiring speaker. In this Summer evangelization event, Tom, a Catholic apologist will promote the teachings of Jesus Christ, as modeled by Catholic heroes’, and reminds us how blessed we are to be baptized Catholics. I hope to have a full church for this special evening and would recommend you bring a friend. Catholic Radio 1060AM will join us and a book signing will follow the talk.
In two weeks, June 22-29th, work is set to begin to install the two projections screens, video screen in the Chapel, the speaker system in the main Church, and the equipment to enhance and improve our live streaming capabilities. This is a very exciting project and I thank you for your continued support.
Happy Father’s Day and God bless you all!
