How blessed we are to support programs that bring Jesus’s Gospel message of peace, justice and compassion to all the corners of the world . . .

This weekend the Church celebrates “World Mission Sunday”. Our Second Collection will be directed for mission work which is undertaken by the Universal Church. How blessed we are to support programs that bring Jesus’s Gospel message of peace, justice and compassion to all the corners of the world, particularly those where His word is not as often communicated.

I want to welcome the Very Reverend Robert Connors, Episcopal Vicar for the South Region, to our parish this weekend. Father Connors will be the celebrant at the Sunday 11:30 Mass. Please say hello to him after Mass.

I want to thank everyone who volunteered to wash the linens. As of Tuesday, we have nine new volunteers. This will allow us to rotate the cleaning of the linens on a weekly basis, and volunteers can expect a turn every eight weeks or so. I really appreciate the great number of volunteers. As we are in the fall months we will resume our recruiting of Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers and Hospitality volunteers, as well as a few tech helpers. If you interested in volunteering in any area please see Father Carmichael, and you know I will approach you.

I am in the initial phase of planning a Christmas party for our Volunteers. If you would like to help organize this event, (i.e. to become a volunteer for the volunteers LOL!) please send me an email to office@stanns.net and I will get back to you quickly.

In 2020 St Ann by the Sea Parish and St. Christine’s Parish will both celebrate their 75th anniversaries! I am forming a 75th Anniversary Committee to help plan activities for next Spring, Summer and Fall. We will plan a dinner as well as an Anniversary Mass. I will meet with the Parish Pastoral Council to discuss this important milestone but would love to hear from you with any ideas you might have. As we are a parish consisting of both year – round and summer parishioners, I’d like to spread the activities thru the 3 seasons when most of us, (that is, summer, snowbird and year round folk) are around to participate.

I will be meeting with the newly formed Parish Pastoral Council on the last Tuesday of October (October 29th) at 7:00pm in the rectory. We are sending out our initial letter by mail and will then switch future communication through email and text messaging. I have met with Finance Council earlier in the month and will meet again later this month. Please be sure to update your contact information with the office.

While in Chicago last week, I purchased software “Ministry Pro Scheduler” which I believe is very versatile and will help us with options for volunteer and minister schedules. It relies on emails and phone  numbers, so we will go about updating that information from volunteers and ministers and then will move along to all parishioners.
