PASTOR’S  COLUMN

Please welcome Fr. Richard Curran to our Vigil Mass; he was kind enough to celebrate this Mass which affords me an extra day of vacation, traveling on a Saturday than the rush of a Friday return. Fr. Curran has recently semi-retired to Plymouth; his last assignment was in Somerville.  I appreciate his generous offer to help out on occasion, he will be celebrating the Christmas Eve Mass in the Chapel.

Just a reminder that CHRISTMAS FLOWER ENVELOPES are in the benches and at the entrance. In the past few years this collection has gone down. Your gift counts and helps us provide a beautiful setting for Christmas worship. I pray that God rewards you with abundant blessings for this help.

The JESSE TREE has come down. The gifts are being distributed this Monday to  Julie’s House, the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, Catholic Charities and some local families. If you know of someone who is having a tough time financially, or if your family is experiencing such difficulties, please contact the office and we will help you. The gifts can be left by the side of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Hope you have a chance to come down and have a picture taken in front of the  LOBSTER TRAP CHRISTMAS TREE. We are so fortunate and blessed to have our Knights who spent last Sunday afternoon assembling the traps and then decorating them. So many folks drive by and stop their cars and take pictures, many of them are just visiting the area and appreciate the novel Christmas decoration.

I realize the coming week will be very busy for many of us and so I would invite you to slow down and catch your breath. I have had to change the PARISH PENANCE SERVICE to this MONDAY NIGHT at 7:00pm in the Chapel. We will have a nice prayer service which will include music and some scripture. Come and go as you please, and I hope to have another priest with me for the hour-long Confession Service. I am sending out Christmas Cards along with an insert of the Christmas services. The card is mailed to folks who have given to the Catholic Appeal, Grand Annual or Offertory. I sent out Thanksgiving Cards this year, so if you received one you’ll receive the Christmas card, if not please call and leave us your name and address and we’ll send you this year’s card. Folks, our mailing list is 1500 names long, many of which are not active, so we are working on our database to  develop one which better reflects those who are active in the parish. I’ll keep you posted on this project. Also, by the way, our Christmas Mass schedule is Christmas Eve 4:00pm (Main Church) & 4:15pm Chapel. Christmas day at 7:30am 10:00am and 11:30am (There will be no 7PM).
