I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day Holiday. I spent a few days home in Arlington with my parents, and the three of us enjoyed the traditional dinner. I brought home two cakes from Veronica Sweetcakes, a yellow one and strawberry and whipped cream cake. With just the three of us the cakes will find a portion being sent to our next door neighbor. It’s a different celebration this year, but amidst the Pandemic, we dine with hope. A hope that the three vaccines will be effective and deployed quickly so as to contain this pandemic.
The Christmas Mass schedule is:
Christmas Eve Vigil Masses: Outside Drive-In Masses 1:00pm and 3:00pm Inside 4:30pm
Christmas Day Masses:
Outside Drive-in Mass 8:30am
Inside Masses 7:30am and 10:00am (There will not be an 11:30 or 7:00pm)
I want to thank the parish’s Myles Standish Knights of Columbus for volunteering for each of the Christmas Eve and Day Drive In Masses. This is a lot to ask of them, but quite necessary for us to provide the Eucharist to so many on the day in which we celebrate the birth of our Savior and Lord. I would be remiss if I did not also recognize those others who support us in this endeavor as greeters, Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. I hope this advance notice may help you in your Christmas planning, and that you will be able to participate in one of these Masses.
The Giving Tree is up in a different manner, as we can’t safely display the tags on a physical tree, so we have placed them on a Christmas cut out tree as well as the partitions. We have placed the cards with the greeting picture on the inside and the gift on the visible side. Please take one of the cards and return in the next few weeks.
A big thanks from the folks at Julie’s Learning Center. Through your generosity over fifty families will have a sumptuous turkey dinner. Your outpouring of help was so significant that we will only need to get an additional ten hams for Christmas, as the freezers are full of the spare turkeys! May God Bless each of you richly.
I am happy to report that we will be holding our annual Christmas Concert in the Church, but in a virtual manner. The concert date will be a week prior to Christmas, stay tuned next week.
Advent begins this week, let’s get to Confession.
